Last October we had the opportunity to design and plan an upscale affair for the union of Tyrone & Sherita at The Mayflower Hotel Autograph Collection in Washington, DC.  With over 100 plus of their close family and friends the two love birds said “I Do” and danced the night away.

Their romantic story began over eight years ago where they first made their acquaintance on a dating website.  Through constant communication and several exciting dates, the two began a romantic courtship.  During their courtship, Sherita was diagnosed with Cancer (now, a Cancer Survivor), and she stated Tyrone jumped right in and didn’t walk away from her – he stood by her side every step of the way.  From that moment, she knew that he was the one for her.  During their time together they had a little girl named, Maddie, who is the apple of Tyrone’s eye; the two of them are inseparable which you could tell by their interaction during the planning process of the wedding.  They were engaged on June 7, 2015; Tyrone said, “It was a moment that felt right”; so, he proposed.

It gave us great joy to plan such a special occasion for such a remarkable couple.

Traditions:  Jumping of the Broom – an Old African-American tradition that has carried on since 1897 in West Africa/Ghana. The jumping of the broom has several meanings across African cultures.  However, the brooms represent to all, a spiritual value of warding off evil spirits and past wrongs; and sweeping away the old and bringing in the new.  And for the humor in it all, it says the person that jumps the highest will be the ruler in the household.
