Last year I had the amazing opportunity to assist with orchestrating the wedding of Lisa & Jim for their eclectic rustic style wedding on August 18th, 2012 at The Barnes at Wolf Trap. Each detail of this romantic union was compatible to their personality and love for each other. Love and romance ran deep not only with Lisa and Jim but down to all of their family and friends that helped them to share their special day. At the reception, Jim sang a love song that he had written for Lisa; Lisa with her amazing talents created the welcome sign at the entrance of the reception site; the Best Man and his wife (also the florist) also performed for the audience. The background setting for the ceremony was the historic McLean Baptist Church where the two said their “I Do’s”. Later the couple was transported to The Barnes at Wolf Trap which really transcended the rustic setting of this fabulous night. The colors that captured the moment were cinnamon red, nutmeg, and gold. The Barnes at Wolf Trap is located one-half mile south of the Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. This historic venue was created from two barns (The English Barn and the German Barn) which were dismantled and transported from their original farms in upstate New York to Northern Virginia.
The main entertainment was provided by the band, Miss Tess & The Talkbacks. Based out of New York City, this soulful group definitely puts the stamp on the saying, “life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you get inside”…this group surprises you on every level with their unique style. Miss Tess & The Talkbacks possess a blend of simmering jazz on one spectrum to the melodic and rhythmic improvisation and interplay with elements of honky-tonk, western swing, and golden-era pop standards. Miss Tess and The Talkbacks were a hit with the guests at Lisa & Jim’s wedding.
Additional forms of entertainment that were a huge hit with the guests were elements of a candy station and the photobooth (provided by Red Eye Photobooth).
Other key players that helped to transcend the rustic decor and theme for Lisa and Jim were: Catering – Well Dunn Catering; Florist – Country Way; Photography – Lindsay Greer Creative; Wedding Cake & Groom’s Cake – Fluffy Thoughts; Hair & Make-up – Bridal Beauty Associates; Transportation – ING Limo. Thanks to all that helped to make this a success!
