Over the past couple of months, I have had the opportunity to explore some very unique locations within the Washington, DC metro area and beyond to include a rustic romantic retreat approximately 2 hours from the area. Each location provides it own unique personality and caters to dynamic wedding and event styles. Take the opportunity to visit the properties to see if they fit your personality for your next extravaganza! Today, we will give you insight into – The Tides Inn.
Right before the Christmas holiday, my assistant and I traveled to the Northern Neck of Virginia to visit with Carole Konrad (Sales Manager) at the Tides Inn. The Tides Inn is a quaint resort that is bordered by the 3 bodies of water – the Potomac River, the historic Chesapeake Bay, and the Rappahannock River. As we drove through the quiet town of Irvington, Virginia it seemed like we were taken back in time and had entered the city of Mayberry, but then as we transitioned to the resort and coming around the circle drive the thought of Cape Cod came into vision.
Carole (Sales Manager) was an excellent host and tour guide, and gave us a picturesque view of the entire property. The resort offers several locations on the property to have weddings and special events; the golf course, the beach (yes they have a beach with beach sand), a combination of the Ashburn, Virginia, and Captains’ quarter rooms, and the King’s Carter Room. After our tour, we had the opportunity to engage in the Holiday activities on the property, where we were entertained by the local holiday parade and golf cart contest, a bonfire with roasted chesnuts, hot cider, popcorn, and cookies, and then to be greeted by Santa and his elves. And the food, oh my, the food is phenomenal! At the end of the day, Carole invited us to dine in the East Dining room, the resort’s formal fine dining restaurant; I did not want to converse at the dining table because I just wanted to enjoy my delicious meal and savor every portion of each bite.
My assistant, Courtney, and I retired for the evening in the luxurious Vista Suites at the main building. The room had that feel of Tommy Bahama decor. We each had our own spacious suite which included a sitting area, large king size bed, and a spa retreat bathroom. Their beds are top of the line! When you lay down you will not want to get out of it – you will want to spend your entire vacation in the bed.
I forgot to mention, we did have a moment to indulge in some girl time at the spa. We pampered ourselves at the Tranquility Spa where we received one hour deep tissue massages, and taken away to another world as we were soothed by the staff. The spa offers services for individuals and bridal parties to include the services of body treatments, massage services, facials, nails, make-up and waxing services. This is a must for every girl when visiting The Tides Inn.
We highly enjoyed our weekend retreat at the Tides Inn and totally agree this is a magnificent location for weddings, special events, family reunions, girls getaway, and much more. Just a step away from the Nations Capital to give you the feel of a destination location for any special occasion. Visit the Tides Inn!
Perfect Planning would like to be your source and event planning company for your wedding or special occasion at the Tides Inn. We offer a variety of wedding packages to include destination locations.
